Winter's Eve

This image is something of a mystery even to me. The figure, a woman clothed in a corset which covers a flowing bodice and simple peasant skirt, holds a long flowing scarf which floats around her body. She also appears to be attracting or releasing a flock of moths which spiral up to the moon. Winter is represented by the bare tree branches both in the background and creeping up before the figure under the floating scarf. Magic is in the air. To me this piece embodies feminine power and magic but is also filled with an indefinable sadness and longing.
